The Department of Government & International Affairs of the University of Guyana today said it will be hosting a forum involving the presidential candidates of the Alliance For Change (AFC), A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) and The United Force (TUF).
The forum will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 15:00 h in the George Walcott Lecture Theatre, Turkeyen campus.
A release from UG said that the objectives of this exercise are:
* to provide an opportunity for the political parties contesting the national general elections to present their party’s position on issues of national development, in particular those which apply to young people and
* to provide a forum for discussion and interaction between the University community and the presidential candidates.
There have been several attempts to organize a debate among the presidential candidates but thus far the PPP/C has not agreed to any of these. The other candidates have signalled their willingness.
