Traffic has resumed along the Mabaura Road at 40 Miles, after temporary relief works were effected by the Ministry of Public Works.
Traffic in the area was interrupted for two days after a 20ft breach across the road developed after a creek overtopped in the area. It was explained that heavy rains caused the creek to over flow its bank because the culvert was too small. Leon Goring, coordinator of the Work Services Group of the ministry, said that teams back filled the 20ft wide breach. He said that the 40 Miles area was the only area along the roadway which was threatened by erosion. He said the work a quick fix that was applied and more permanent work will be done when the weather improves.
