Police say that at about 1800h yesterday, pensioner Lalta Persaud Nagasar, 69 years and contractor Jairam Samaroo, 61 years of No. 71 Village, Corentyne, Berbice were attacked and robbed by five men all armed with firearms.
Investigations revealed that Nagasar was standing in front of his yard when he was confronted by the perpetrators who dealt him several lashes about his body and relieved him of $30,000. Police say the bandits then proceeded next door to Samaroo who was under his house, during which he was wounded to his right ear with a knife and relieved of $127,000. The perpetrators discharged several rounds into the air while escaping, the police added.
Three live rounds and two spent shells were found at the scene by the police. Investigations are continuing.
