(Barbados Nation) Over 20 non-national women, who came to Barbados to perform as exotic dancers, were sent packing this past weekend after police and immigration authorities swooped down on a City nightclub.
The women – mostly from Jamaica and Guyana – were held during Friday night’s raid on Tasty Treats, located at Dottins Alley, which prompted renewed discussion yesterday on the issue of prostitution on the island.
Police public relations officer Inspector David Welch also confirmed that ten other people were held during the joint exercise, which targeted a number of other establishments in Bridgetown.
Uniformed police officers, backed up by heavily-armed Task Force personnel, were acting on reports of worrying illegal activity, ranging from gambling to drug trafficking and the playing of loud music.
