Dear Editor,
I just read Mr Bisram’s letter in SN of November 7 (‘I attended the India Day parade as a reporter’) and the first sentence stated: “Mr Seelochan Beharry, an AFC candidate for parliament and a former member of the PPP who fell out with that party…”
This first sentence contains two major errors. Surely, a pollster can do better than this.
First error: I am not a candidate for parliament of the AFC. I am not a member and have never been a member of the AFC. This is probably news for the AFC. Mr Bisram should check the AFC list; it is available for public perusal.
Second error: I was never a member of the PPP. At least Mr Bisram could have asked Mr Ramotar. I have many old friends in the PPP and I respect their services. I have mentioned this many times.
I also have friends who served in the PNC. I have never been a member of the PNC. My social interactions and friendships are not limited by trivial boundaries. During my tenure at UG, these friends were good to me and I treasure these friendships.
Since Mr Bisram, a scientific pollster, could not get these simple facts correct, then what must I think about the accuracy of what else he is saying? Mr Bisram states he is an Indian-American; we can assume he owns an Indian passport or this would also be inaccurate.
I appreciate Mr Bisram’s response and his entertaining explanations are duly noted. For a moment I thought Mr Bisram was part of the security detail protecting the presidential entourage from the overseas Guyanese. The readers can decide for themselves on the validity of Mr Bisram‘s explanations.
Yours faithfully,
Seelochan Beharry
