Three persons including a 4-year-old boy are patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital, following an accident which occurred yesterday around 3.30 am along the Schoonord Public Road WBD, when the car they were in crashed into a street light.
Injured are Valarie Ramsammy, 19; Shanta Ramsammy, 30; and Hamid Muslim, 37 who all sustained broken legs and other injuries, while the child Kevin Ramsammy, 4, sustained a broken right arm.
The family resides at Number Two canal, West Bank Demerara (WBD) and was returning home from a function at Vreed-en-Hoop when the accident occurred. Members of the family recounted that the car was travelling north on the Schoonord Public Road, when the driver lost control.
The four were rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where they received initial medical attention but were later transferred to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Up to yesterday afternoon Shanta Ramsammy who was seated in the front passenger seat of the car, was in the operating theatre of the GPH undergoing eye surgery.
According to one relative, the injured persons were all conscious, but were complaining of severe pain.
