Dear Editor,
Could the Guyana Elections Commission tell us what new constraints or insights caused them to change the voting times on polling day from the tried and tested 6 am-6 pm to 7 am-7 pm?
Sunrise on November 28, 2011 is 5.47 am, and sunset is 5.33 pm. So if it is a policy of the GECOM to keep voters in the dark, they have certainly started nicely.
I would normally be inclined to communicate my concerns directly to the authority concerned. However, since I never received any reply to my other correspondence to GECOM pertaining to the upcoming national elections, I have no confidence in my ability to penetrate their assumed inscrutability without the help of your newspaper.
Yours faithfully,
Alfred Bhulai
