The destruction of the stalls at the Parika stelling, East Bank, Essequibo had to take precedence over wider political considerations – the voters on the Essequibo Coast, who have suffered for many years under this Jagdeo-Ramotar regime. After all they have not received anything substantial from this government.
The $5,000 per bag for paddy the rice farmers were promised did not materialise. The rice millers and speculators are the ones who are making the money. The regime fobs off the rice farmers by telling them that it lacks control over world trade and everything is controlled by market forces. The ‘poor‘ farmers don‘t understand what they mean and cannot do anything under the current circumstances. But come the election on November 28 they can cast votes not in favour of this regime and its henchmen.
It would appear that elements of the regime have been sleeping and have now woken up; after residents have largely rejected them they now want to make up by giving them a state-of-the- art roll-on roll-off ferry stelling at Parika and at the infamous Supenaam stelling, which took more than 2 years to complete with disaster after disaster.
Strangely enough, who has been given the job to build this stelling at Parika? No one other than BK Tiwarie, the man who roundly condemned two senior figures of the regime – Minster of Works and Hydraulics Robeson Benn and Prime Minister Sam Hinds. But why has the regime given this contract to Mr Tiwarie after what took place and his response to the regime officials? There is something that is baffling.
Have the media investigated who are the contractors currently building Mr Jagdeo’s new villa at Pradoville 2? I think not. Has Mr Tiwarie got anything to do with the construction, and if so, how much is he charging?
