Guyanese model Amanda King leaves for Shanghai on Tuesday having placed among the top three at the Elite Caribbean model competition in Trinidad and Tobago on November 12.
According to a press release from CEO of Guyana Fashion Weekend, Sonia Noel, who attended the T&T final, King will be joined by Krystal Benjamin from Antigua and Shenika Fernandes of Trinidad.
They were selected after having competed against models from Barbados, Haiti, St Lucia, St Vincent and Grenada at the Caribbean final at the Hyatt Regency in T&T.
King and Niketa Barker had won the top spots here, from among some 50 models who showed up for the casting at the Pegasus Hotel, and had gone on to the final.
The judges were Iris Minier – Elite Paris International Scout; Caridad Fernandez – President Fashion Week Puerto Rico and Official Representative of Elite Model Look Puerto Rico; Sofia Krawczyk – Elite Paris Model; Jean-Pierre Begon – Vice President Elite International; Anya Ayoung-Chee – Winner Project Runway; Dane Lewis – Franchise Holder – Elite Model Look Caribbean
According to the release, Begon, said that Amanda has something special and he is looking forward to her doing the Caribbean proud.
Amanda said she felt privileged to have been given the opportunity and will make the best of her international debut. She thanked Sonia Noel and GFW for making it possible.
