West Berbice man dies after collision with truck

A Berbice man died at the Georgetown Hospital last night, hours after he collided with a truck at Number Two Village, West Coast Berbice.

Dead is Azeem Wajid of Number Four Village, WCB.

Stabroek News was told that some time yesterday afternoon, the man was driving a minibus when he collided with a truck. It is unclear if it was a head-on collision. Wajid and several passengers of his bus were rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital.

The extent of the injuries the passengers sustained was unclear last evening, but an unconscious Wajid was later transferred to the Georgetown Hospital where he died just before midnight.

He sustained injuries to the head and his right hand and left foot were broken.
