(Jamaica Gleaner) Jamaican sprinter Steve Mullings has been given a lifetime ban from athletics.
The overseas-based Mullings was found guilty of an anti-doping violation by the three-man disciplinary panel of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission, last Thursday.
However, sentencing was postponed until today pending receipt of a document from the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association outlining the specifics of a prior violation by Mullings.
The 28-year-old had previously tested positive for testosterone in 2004 and served a two-year ban.
Mullings tested positive for the banned substance Furosemide, just 16 days before the August 27 to September 4 World Championships begin in Daegu, South Korea this year.
He returned the positive test at the Jamaican National Championships, which were held at the National Stadium from June 23 to 26.
