Police are still looking for the three gunmen who invaded the Demerara Guyoil Station at Foulis, East Coast Demerara on Saturday night and escaped with more than $5 million in cash and jewellery.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told this newspaper yesterday that no arrests have been made. He said there was nothing to indicate that the robbery was “an inside job”.
Manager Cecil Gajadar said he is still to hear from the police but is trying to follow the matter.
He had recalled that moments after he returned to the location after taking staff home, he saw a man running towards him with a pistol in his hand. Later the lone gunman was joined by two others who were dressed like “black clothes police”.
He said he and his guard were forced into the small shop area and gun butted. The gunmen demanded money and after one helped himself to a beverage they left with $5.5 million and about $250,000 in jewellery.
