Speaking to the media briefly after a meeting with the president at the Office of the President yesterday, Kopecky said the EU, which is the largest financier of projects here and in the Caribbean Community, will work to develop projects which are ongoing. These include mangrove restoration, budgetary support programmes and support being provided to the sugar industry.
He said there exists great potential for eco-tourism and green businesses in Guyana and according to him, a few European companies are keen on investing in Guyana in a mutually acceptable manner. He said the prospects of such moves being realized are high.
During a brief meeting with the president, Kopecky said, they discussed democratic and political issues with relevance to the upcoming elections among other issues relevant to Guyana.
He said too that they also discussed regional integration subjects, noting that there exists space for mutual cooperation for the region with the EU.
