Essequibo Coast resident Tony Persaud, who was injured following Monday’s vehicular accident along a trail aback Buck Hall on the Essequibo River, was last evening transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital as his injuries remain serious.
On Tuesday morning, 39 year old Stacian Defreitas of Charity and her partner, 40 year old Kurt Inniss of the Pomeroon, perished after a truck in which they were travelling toppled along the roadway aback Buck Hall.
Persaud, 24, along with Rohit Narine, Edward Savory and Carlos Benn (Defreitas’ son) and another man were admitted to the Suddie Hospital on Tuesday evening following the incident. Persaud was said to be the most seriously hurt of the injured and he was slipping in and out of consciousness yesterday a relative reported.
Benn remained a patient at the Suddie Hospital last evening and he reportedly sustained injuries to his back and face. His condition was listed as stable.
Persaud, whose family owns the truck which was involved in the accident, sustained severe head injuries as well as several broken ribs, among other injuries.
A relative noted yesterday that Persaud lost a considerable volume of blood following the incident.
According to the police Arjune Ishwardeen of Adventure, Essequibo Coast was driving the truck in the Sulphur Rose area when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle while descending a hill.
Consequently the vehicle, which was carrying fuel and foodstuff along with six persons, toppled resulting in injuries to its occupants.
The incident is being investigated by the police.
