The Women and Gender Equality Commission salutes the example and integrity of the late Alliance For Change (AFC) executive member and Member of Parliament Sheila Holder.
In a press release, the commission said it remembers Holder as an ardent consumers’ advocate giving voice to many citizens’ frustrations with the public utilities services. “Sheila stepped into the political arena with boldness and courage. She was always civil and courteous in her conduct as a Member of Parliament,” it added.
According to the commission, Holder demonstrated the role that women can play in national politics, standing up for the advancement of women and their key responsibility in decision-making at the highest levels in our society.”
The commission extended condolences to Holder’s family and friends and the leaders and supporters of the AFC.
“May her soul rest in peace and her memory be an inspiration to all,” it said.
