Floodlights crushed Parika Defenders last Sunday by 76 runs to make it into the final of the over-40 category of the 2011 Bakewell Nationwide Softball Tournament scheduled for December 11 at the Ministry of Education Ground.
Batting first at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground, Tulsi Sahadeo hammered the bowling of the Parika Defenders to all parts of the ground on his way to a half century of 61 runs before his teammate Ramesh Sunich anchored the innings to a close on 22 not out in the 25-over game.
In reply, Parika was unable to make it past the 100- run mark as Imtiaz Mohamed ran through the batting lineup of Parika by taking five wickets for 16 runs.
In the other semifinal Regal Seniors topped Savage Masters by 44 runs to claim their spot in the final.
Regal Seniors took to the crease first, amassing a total of 190 for five off their allotted 25 overs as Mahendra Hardyal and Jagaa Bhoj scored decent scores of 32 and 30 respectively.
Savage did not give in easily but in the end batted too slowly as they were held tightly by the bowling of Regal Seniors as they finished on 156 for seven off their full 25 overs.
Meanwhile the male and female open semifinals will take place this Sunday as the tournament enters its final stages.
