Help and Shelter last evening held a candlelight vigil for the victims of domestic violence at the St George’s Cathedral, under the theme “A vigil of light against the darkness of Domestic Violence.” The vigil was organized by the volunteers of Help and Shelter and is the first one organized by the Organization for the year and it marks the beginning of 16-days of planned activities in commemoration of ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women,’ which was observed yesterday. Help and Shelter celebrated its 16th anniversary yesterday and said the aim of the vigil is spreading the awareness and emphasizing the importance of domestic violence as a growing issue.
