The Indian Cultural Centre invites all members of the public to see the film Gandhi My Father at the Indian Cultural Centre today from 5.30 pm. This 2007 film is based on the life of Harilal Gandhi, and explores his relationship with his father Mohandas Gandhi.
The film was directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and features Akshaye Khanna as Harilal Gandhi and Darshan Jariwala as Mohandas Gandhi.
The film tells the story of Harilal, who wanted to pursue dreams to study law, but who was refused by his father. The subsequent difficulties led to several crises in Harilal’s life. This is the story of a man who lived in the enormous shadow of his father, striving to discover his own identity.
The film won several awards for screen play and direction.
Admission is free and the film’s running time is 136 minutes.
