The Private Sector Commission (PSC) intends to provide logistical support to the police where necessary, it said in a press release issued yesterday evening to clarify what it meant in its public statement where it said it would give assistance to the police.
To this end, the release said, some companies would provide the police with vehicles to use on elections day.
The PSC sought to assure the public that there was nothing sinister about its involvement in tomorrow’s elections, stating that it would be sharing information with the police as it has been as well as with all the political parties, the Electoral Assistance Bureau, Gecom and the international observers.
The PSC reminded that it was an accredited local observer group and said it had met all of the local and international observer groups.
It noted too that since its members employed over 120,000 people it had a legitimate interest in peaceful and fair elections and in contributing to the smooth transition to the new government.
