Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Chairman Dr Steve Surujbally is reporting “great turnout” so far for today’s general elections.
“People have come out and the discipline was superb,” Surujbally told a news briefing at the GECOM Media Centre at the Pegasus Hotel shortly after 10:30am. He added that there was “generally, no reports of negativity.”
Polls opened at 6am and voting will continue until 6pm.
Surujbally, who said stations opened on time, noted “minor” frustrations experienced by some voters, but praised them for their behaviour as they queued up at polling places countrywide.
