A 70-year-old woman has been left in a critical condition after she was knocked down by a taxi on the Buxton, East Coast Demerara main road on Friday last.
According to hospital reports, Beldora Emanuel, of Lot 108 Middle Walk, Buxton, ECD, was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state by motor car HB 6892 which was driven by Laurence Pool of Lot 548 Ninth Street, Paradise, ECD. It was the said and driver who struck down Emanuel.
Members of the woman’s church yesterday related that she had sustained fractured right leg and arm, a dislocated hip and head injuries.
They also said that she has not yet regained consciousness and remains a patient of the High Dependency Unit.
