Grove Hi Tec and Banks FC will clash in the final of the inaugural Banks DIH Coca Cola football champion’s league organised by the East Bank Football Association this Sunday at the Diamond Community Centre ground from 13:00hrs.
According to a press release, the two teams will now battle for $300,000 in the much anticipated finals after getting past their semifinal opponents last Sunday at the said venue.
Banks FC downed their semifinal opponents Kuru Kururu easily with a 2-0 win. Devon ‘Peasy’ Forde scored in the 27th minute while Phillip Rowley scored two minutes into the second half.
However, Grove were made to fight for their spot in the final as they narrowly downed Timehri Panthers in a ‘Sudden Death’ penalty shootout that ended 6-5 after the game ended with a 1-1 scoreline.
Both teams who are also in the 22nd edition of the Kashif & Shanghai Football tournament will look to gain some momentum by winning the final come Sunday.
