The semi-finals of the 2011 Carib Beer/Pepsi nationwide Twenty20 competition bowls off today at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground, Bourda from 9:00am.
The finals have been postponed twice before once due to a political campaign at the Albion Community Centre ground and the second time because of rain interruptions at the Bourda ground last week.
Mario’s Pizza West Berbice Super Kings will clash with Gizmos and Gadgets Georgetown Pitbulls in the first semi-final while Church’s Chicken Corentyne Titans will face off with the GCB President’s X1 in the other semi-final.
Both of the Berbice teams played in competitive Berbice Zone group matches before advancing to the Super Eight stage and now today’s semi-final. They will be looking to maintain the ancient county’s current dominance of local cricket, by making it an All-Berbice final at Albion on Sunday.
The Georgetown Pitbulls, who have been fairly dominant in the competition may have a stiff challenge against the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) President XI who has been reinforced by the addition of a few new players according to tournament coordinator Robin Singh.
Meanwhile the final of the tournament which was scheduled for December 3 at the Albion Community Center ground has been rescheduled for December 4 at the same venue. The third place game will start at 9:00am with the final scheduled to start at 1:00pm.
