A Caribbean Airlines plane with some passengers en route to Guyana made a controlled emergency landing on Thursday in Jamaica after departing The Bahamas.
A statement on the CAL website yesterday said that Caribbean Airlines flight BW 62 which departed Nassau, Bahamas on Thursday for Kingston, Jamaica with a scheduled stop in Montego Bay undertook a controlled emergency landing at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.
CAL said that this resulted in the cancellation of the connecting flight BW 62 onto Kingston.
“The airline is following standard operating procedures to assess the situation and we apologize for the inconvenience. We assure you that the safety of our passengers is our primary focus and we are doing all possible to ensure that the aircraft is fully operational.
“All 79 passengers onboard were accommodated. 12 persons were provided with hotel accommodation in Montego Bay, 52 persons were provided with ground transportation to several destinations in St. Thomas, New Kingston and to the Norman Manley International Airport. Remaining passengers who were scheduled to connect onto Trinidad and Guyana, have been accommodated on alternative flights”, the airline said.
