The police say they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 1915h. on November 30, 2011, on Main Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice, and which resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Megnauth Sumra, 21 years, of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice several days later.
Police say that investigations revealed that the driver of motor car PJJ 1618 was proceeding along Main Street, when it is alleged that he was affected by the bright lights of an oncoming motor vehicle and collided with the pedal cyclist.
Sumra suffered injuries and was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital. He was subsequently transferred to the GPHC where he succumbed on December 03, 2011.
