The Guyana Elections Commission today agreed to hand over Statements of Poll to the parties which contested the November 28 polls.
A row over the Statements of Poll fuelled protests over the last few days by A Partnership for National Unity which culminated in the shooting of protesters with rubber bullets by the police. Several persons were hurt.
GECOM Public Relations Officer (PRO) Vishnu Persaud told Stabroek News that the Commission decided to make available DVDs with the statements of polls to the four contesting parties. The DVDs have not been handed over as yet, Persaud indicated.
Opposition coalition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) has been calling for an all-party verification of the statements of polls following last Monday’s elections.
