The finals of the Bollywood segment of the Jingle and Song Competition is slated for Friday, and Chief Executive Officer of GT&T Yog Mahadeo told this newspaper that the response received thus far from the public has been phenomenal.
Results for this segment are expected to be announced on December 30 while the results for the English segment are scheduled to be announced within a few days.
Taking the stage on Friday eveningwill be Chait Singh Mohanlall, Chavela Rampersaud, Christina Inshanally, Gail Ann Singh, Gowradai Pooran, Joel Pharous, Kamal Rattan, Leilawattie Budram, Prakash Sadaram, Somdatt Ramessar and surprise addition Balram Persaud Budhu serving as a wild card.
Both the winner of the English and Indian segment will drive home in a brand new motorcar.
“It was no idle boast when I said at the finals of the English segment that we did a poll and we found that the number one rated thing that month was the jingle and song competition and the second was the election,” Mahadeo noted.
He said that the competition overall attracted much interest as the organizing group never expected approximately 1,000 persons to apply. This was probably due to some adjustments made to this year’s competition such as the removal of the age barrier and the introduction of the Bollywood segment.
“It was very interesting and enjoyable to see people of all walks of life perform,” Mahadeo added.
He further stated that the competition was highly professional with participants being equipped with mentors, music experts, bands and music houses for assistance. This, he said, was a great learning experience for them all.
