At about 1030h today police say they responded to a report received that three men on two motor cycles had robbed a mini-bus driver at Beterverwagting Public Road, ECD.
The police say they caught up with the two motor cycles on Sheriff Street, but one of the men rode way. However, the police pursued the other two men on the other motor cycle onto Middleton Street, where the motor cycle crashed into a mini bus.
Police say the rider of the motor cycle was arrested, while ranks gave chase behind the pillion rider who was seen throwing away a bag as he ran.
The man was subsequently caught and arrested by the police and the bag recovered and searched in which was found an unlicensed .32 pistol with 12 matching rounds.
The two men are in police custody as the investigations continue.
