The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has confirmed that the National Table Tennis Championships will bounce off tomorrow at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) from 16:00 hrs.
Earlier, the venue for the tournament was uncertain.
The tournament which was to be held at the National Gymnasium had to be relocated to the CASH because of the Diamond Mineral Hockey Festival slated to kick off today, according to General Secretary of the Association, Godfrey Munroe.
While the CASH is still undergoing repairs which started since October 19, Munroe concluded that the venue is good enough for play in a telephone interview with Stabroek Sport yesterday.
“The venue will be at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and while the repairs are not fully completed, it’s in a state where play can go…the tournament will start on Friday but the official opening ceremony will be on Saturday,” Munroe said in the telephone interview.
Meanwhile the tournament is set to bring the best local players in table tennis to the fore with a chance of winning national honours.
