(Barbados Nation) It’s settled. Barbados’ jobless rate is officially 12.1 per cent.
That statistic disputed by the Central Bank of Barbados (CBB) in September, has been used by the International Fund (IMF) in its recently concluded Article IV Consultation with Barbados.
The IMF said: “With overall economic activity remaining subdued, the unemployment rate almost doubled from 6.7 per cent in 2007 to 12.1 per cent in June 2011.”
Last September, a dispute erupted over the figure as it related to unemployment at the end of the first half of the year.
