Devon Ford scored a brilliant hat-trick to lead Banks DIH Football Club to victory over Grove Hi Tech in the East Bank Demerara Football Association first division final sponsored by Coca-Cola at Thirst Park ground last Wednesday.
While the match ended 4-1 in favour of Banks DIH, Ford drew first blood in the 29th minute with a brilliant strike to put Banks up one against Grove.
Forde then capitalized on the weak defence by Grove as he found the back of the net just before the conclusion of the half in the 42nd minute.
On resumption of the second half, Grove looked more focused as they began to flow fluently, pushing Banks on the defensive as John Mathews lobbed the ball over Banks advancing keeper to find the back of the net in the 48th minute making the score 2-1.
However, Ford continued his relentless attack on the defence of Grove as he struck again in the 71st minute.
Three minutes later, after the strike by Forde, Peter Parks of Banks sealed the deal with a commanding strike past the hands of Grove’s keeper in the 74th minute.
The game then ended 4-1 at the sound of the final whistle by referee Miguel Vieira who issued six yellow cards and a red card during the course of the match.
Meanwhile the match was witnessed by Coca Cola Brand Manager Jennifer Khan, Banks DIH Outdoor Events Manager Mortimer Stewart, Communications Manager Troy Peters and top officials of the East Bank Football Association, including its President Wayne Francois.
The presentation of prizes to the outstanding teams and players will take place at a date to be announced shortly.
