The Guyana National Shipping Corporation (GNSC) yesterday added two new Doosan forklift trucks to its fleet and they are expected to boost its terminal/wharf operations.
The forklifts, which are 5 tonnes each with Tier 2 Diesel engines that are environmentally-friendly, cost $20.5M, the company said in a release.
“The acquisition of this valuable equipment will enhance customer service and provide much satisfaction to all concerned,” it explained, while noting that the forklifts can handle the toughest tasks in the most demanding applications and would improve the cargo handling capacity of the corporation.
The commissioning was done by GNSC’s Director Andrew Astwood and Mechanical Engineer Premdatt Narine along with other senior managers at its La Penitence wharf. In handing over the equipment, Terminal Manager Brian Duncan, the Managing Director, noted the need for care to be exercised in the operation of the units.
