Former Guyanese international Carey Harris was among the goals but it was not enough to stop his Harlem Strikers from a 4-1 loss to Caroni Samba in their penultimate match of the T&T Football Federation Central Football Association Premier Division “Big-Six” competition on Saturday.
Ex-T&T striker Teba Mc Knight, scorer of a beaver-trick in his team’s 11-0 blowout of Couva Sports last Thursday got a double for Caroni in the seventh and 90th minute at Frederick Settlement Ground, Caroni while Devon Drayton (45th) and Nigel Daniel (56th) added one each to cancel out Harris’ 43 minute item for Strikers.
The win was the fourth straight from as many matches for Caroni who only need a point from its remaining fixture to claim the title. Despite the loss, Strikers stayed second with seven points but cannot catch Caroni.
Third place KC Perseverance United with six poinst from three matches is the only team which has a chance of catching Caroni, but must win its remaining two matches and hope for a Caroni loss.
In the other match carded for Saturday at Caroni, St Mary’s United won by default from Couva Sports for its first win.
