An Agricola man who was charged with robbery with aggravation was placed on $75,000 bail yesterday when he appeared at the Georgetown Magis-trates’ Court.
It is alleged that on December 8 at Georgetown the accused, Prince Pickery, who was in company with others robbed Thakur Mahindranauth of one gold chain valued $75,000.
The man pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell.
In presenting the police facts to the court the prosecution said that on the day in question, at about 17:00 hours, the VC boarded a route 40 minibus which was going to Kitty/Campbellville.
As the bus approached the corner of Cummings and South Road the accused shouted for a corner stop and while the VC made way for him to exit the vehicle, he dealt the man a cuff and relieved him of the gold chain and then made good his escape.
The prosecution after stating the facts had no objection to bail so the matter was adjourned until January 3.
