The Mayor and City Council in a press release yesterday said that Cevons Waste Management has been experiencing mechanical difficulties with its fleet of collection trucks, resulting in irregular pick up of garbage in some areas of the city.
The release stated that affected areas include Century Palm Gardens, North Tucville, Houston, Festival City and South and North Ruimveldt among other communities.
He further stated in the release that the Council has deployed its machinery and manpower to assist in bringing relief to those affected.
When Cevons Waste Management was contacted for a comment Stabroek News was told that the call would be returned by someone in a better position to discuss the situation but no call was returned and later efforts to speak to a person in that capacity proved futile.
