Commissioner of Police Henry Greene is to go on leave in the light of investigations into allegations of rape against him.
A release from GINA said that President Donald Ramotar had indicated this in an interview with Editor-in-Chief Michael Gordon at the Office of the President today.
The President was reported as saying that Greene had requested leave to which he had acceded, and that Assistant Commissioner Leroy Brummell would be serving in the capacity of Commissioner in the interim.
The head of state was also reported as liaising with Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee, and that his ministry had been asked to give external assistance to the investigations in order to expedite them.
