(Trinidad Express) State carrier Caribbean Airlines (CAL) and Internet shopping delivery company E Zone are teaming up to enhance CAL’s express small package service, JetPack, into a more “inter-Caribbean service”.
The announcement was made Thursday by CAL senior manager, cargo, Guy Wilson during a news conference at MovieTowne, Port of Spain.
He said the existing JetPack service, which previously provided airport-to-airport service, was being expanded to door-to-door, airport-to-door and door-to-airport service.
He said the door-to-door service currently was limited to stations where a daily service was operated by CAL.
These are Trinidad, Tobago, Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica, with an expansion planned to Grenada in January.
“We will be able to deliver something no one else inter-Caribbean can do,” he said.
He said customers will be able to track and trace their packages, including when they clear Customs.
E Zone director Paul Pantin said the pricing was competitive and though it will not be “half the price” of FedEx and DHL, “you can get it at a slightly higher value to get a much better service”. Packages up to 50 pounds can be delivered the same day or the next, Wilson added.
Products that can’t be shipped include jewellery, guns and ammunition and perishables.
