Round of 16 action in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA)/Banks Beer Knockout Cup continued on Sunday evening with Riddim Squad Football Club and Georgetown Football Club (GFC) at the GFC Ground. In the opening game two first half goals from Seikon Browne in the 10th and 36th minutes aided GFC in securing a 2-0 victory over Black Pearl FC.
This game was a hastily arranged encounter after Black Pearl’s scheduled opponents in this round the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) pulled out of the competition.
In the second game, Riddim squad defeated University of Guyana FC 3-1 in a close contest that was locked 1-1 for most of game after Angus Ramsey and UG captain Nigel Garraway had scored for their respective sides in the 38th and 51st minutes. However double strikes from Duvelle Stewart in the 77th and 79th minutes propelled Riddim Squad into the next round. The competition continues tomorrow with another double header at the GFC ground. In the first game GFC will oppose Houston Stars whiole Santos FC will face Banks DIH All-Stars in the second encounter.
