The Guyana Relief Council (GRC) provided a number of household items for 13 families who suffered losses due to fire during November and December.
In a press release the GRC said it provided beds and mattresses, food supplies, clothing, hygiene items, kitchen utensils, school supplies and building materials to the affected families. Donations were made to Roxanne McTurk, from a family of eight and Joyelyn Fraser from a family of seven, both of 774 One Mile, Wismar, Linden.
Other families that benefited include Aloysius, a family of one of Quarry Area, Thomas Hill, Barima/Waini; Shazan Bacchus from a family of four of 110 High Reef, Albion Estate Road, Berbice; Jasmattie Jagdeo from a family of five of Alness Village, Corentyne, Berbice; Randolph Taylor from a family of six of 24 John and Princes Streets, Georgetown; Parbattie Balkaran from a family of six of 666 Block 8, Mon Repos; May Daniels from a family of two of 746 Kaneville, Grove, EBD; Mark DeCamp from a family of one of Hadfield Street, Georgetown; Routie Outar from a family of three of Cane Grove Estate, ECD; Mondel Scipio from a family of six of 2673-74 Manatee Place, South Ruimveldt Park; Basmat Nagamootoo from a family of two of Lancaster, Berbice and Hyacinth McGregor from a family of two of Number 16 Village, Corentyne.
For the year the GRC has provided assistance to 137 families that were affected by disasters and who suffered difficult circumstances.
The office will be closed for two weeks, from December 19, for the festive season; however, arrangements have been made to facilitate persons who may need assistance. The GRC management, staff and volunteers extend heartfelt gratitude to its many supporters who have helped it to fulfil its mandate.
