Youth Challenge Guyana (YCG) has launched a Civil Society Organisation (CSO) website and database aimed at improving civil society’s ability to effectively influence public decision-making processes.
In a press release, the US Embassy said the website was made possible through a USAID grant through the Governance Enhancement Project’s Civil Society Enhancement Initiative. The website is located at www.developmentgy.org
The Embassy said the main purpose for the website is to improve effectiveness of civil society organisations in Guyana by increasing networking opportunities and information sharing. The CSO network seeks to improve access to local and international networking information in a cost effective manner. The database will connect civil society groups, volunteer organisations, donors and the private sector community to partner on projects. “Civil society will have greater visibility through opportunities to speak to the public and the globe about their programmes, initiatives, and direction,” the release said.
