Vice-Chairman of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine said that the party has completed the verification of Statements of Poll and is now working on analyzing the findings of the verification process.
Dr. Roopnaraine said that the party is still not yet quite in a position to disclose the results of its verification, ongoing since GECOM released on DVD format the SOPs for the elections nearly two weeks ago.
The demand for GECOM to release the SOPs for verification was one of the main reasons the APNU took to the streets and protested, which led to a series of events culminating with the shooting with rubber bullets of protesters and their arrest and subsequent placing before the courts.
Observers are of the view that APNU has been tardy in its handling not only of the verification of the SOPs but also in working out its list of Members of Parliament, which saw the light of day on Tuesday.
Despite the ongoing verification, APNU is in talks with both the Alliance For Change (AFC) and the Government with a view to addressing issues of concern to the Tenth Parliament, due to commence in January.
