The body of a man that was discovered in a canal at Prospect, on the East Bank of Demerara still remains unidentified at the Lykens Funeral Parlour.
The body, clad in a pair blue jeans and a cream/beige t-shirt, was found around 9am, lying face down in the canal in front of the ‘Island’ on Monday. The man is said to be of Indian descent and around his late 40s.
This newspaper was told that to date three different families have showed up at the funeral home to claim the body, believing it to be that of their loved one.
According to eyewitnesses when the body was being pulled out by undertakers of the Lyken Funeral Parlour, they noticed that the man’s tongue was out of his mouth and he was bleeding through his mouth and nose.
