Mings Products and Services Limited presented five fully-loaded Dell laptop computers to the top five students at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).
The computers were presented to Terron Alleyne, Sarah David Long, Carol Hopkinson, Angelie Persaud and Sairah Singh in the presence of their parents and officials of the company, at its Urquhart Street premises. The students were happy to receive the laptops, which they said will assist them in their studies in the years to come.
Mings CEO Stanley Ming said the company wanted to reward the students with a Christmas gift for their hard work. He then challenged the awardees to become entrepreneurs when they leave school in order to create jobs. He also committed to partnering with them to help them to generate start-up capital but promised that the business will be solely owned by them. Ming said that by becoming a partner, he would provide them collectively with $1M.
Ming told the audience that his company is committed to embarking on this initiative to secure a better future for the nation. He also noted that when the company first relocated to the ‘Tiger Bay’ area, many persons had lamented that it was not a good location. However, to date he said it has helped more than 300 children in the community by providing them with an education, medical expenses and today many of them are top business executives. Ming said he is looking forward to working with the NGSA students to build a better Guyana.
