GTM Group Marketing Officer Yasmin Bowman said the staff’s response to the idea, titled ‘Put a smile on the face of a child,’ was so overwhelming that in addition to providing the traditional Christmas goodies and presents, GTM also donated a number of hair cutting machines, pampers and other items essential to child care. Administrator of the home Edwin Enmore said it is a community outreach programme affiliated with the Guyana Red Cross Society, which provides residential care and support for children ages five and under, convalescing from malnourishment, abuse, neglect and abandonment. Currently 35 children all under the age of five reside at the home and it is challenged to provide for their daily needs. Enmore appealed to the public to donate more to the home, while adding that he is privileged to work with an organisation that cares for children.
