While Madhuri ‘Sharda’ Padumdeo’s husband remains in police custody, their families have been trying to determine the best solution for their two-year-old son, who now has neither his mother nor father to care for him.
The 20-year-old Padumdeo’s nude, dead body was discovered at her Lot 8, North Sophia home on Thursday last with her lover of five years and father of her child, 21-year-old Michael ‘Mikey’ Persaud, lying beside her.
According to the dead woman’s mother, Golin Padumdeo, Persaud is currently being held at the Brickdam Police Station lock-ups.
A grieving Padumdeo told Stabroek News that Persaud’s mother called her yesterday to apologize on her son’s behalf for what occurred. She said too that the woman pleaded with her to have visitation of their grandchild, Taijram Persaud, continue, despite the situation.
“She beg me nah fuh stop de grandson from going by she and me tell she yes although I ain’t really accept wha she telling me ‘cause a pain leff in me heart. Me daughter done dead but she son still alive,” Padumdeo said.
However, she indicated that she must continue working so as to maintain her family, especially her grandchild and as a result, would need the assurance of Persaud’s mother to share the responsibility of caring for the child. “Me gah go wuk so they gon gotta look de lil boy sometimes,” she added.
Meanwhile, Sharda’s body is being kept at the Newburg Funeral home and a post-mortem examination is expected to be performed on Wednesday.
“Dem tell me that some of the paper wuk nah finish but say that Monday and Tuesday is holiday so they might do de post mortem on Wednesday,” Padumdeo said, adding that if this is done then the funeral will be planned for Tuesday. The woman said she would be unable to stand the expense of the funeral on her own and as a result, her mother and other relatives have assisted her by all contributing.
Padumdeo insisted that she must get justice for the murder of her only daughter.
