Dear Editor,
On December 19 I was invited to two Christmas get-togethers, one in my home village among my nephews and one in Georgetown among friends, so I decided to go with the friends in Georgetown.
The event was supposed to start at 6 pm and I arrived almost on time. Well 6.30 went by and nothing happened, then 7 pm went by and others drifted in, but the party did not start, so at 7.35pm I drifted out and headed for home.
My point here is that Guyanese people seem to think there is nothing wrong with inviting people to an occasion at a fixed time and starting 2 hours later. You are invited to an important meeting at a fixed hour and the chairman and secretary might turn up on time, but the other members will arrive long after and not be bothered about being late.
When will Guyanese learn that time means production and waste of time means loss of production?
Yours faithfully,
W P George
