The five persons who were arrested in relation to Sunday’s gruesome murder of 74-year-old Mahaica farmer Ramlogan Singh, called ‘Tun Tun’ have all been released as police continue to hunt for the killer/s and the motive.
Stabroek News has learnt that investigators are looking for a suspect but no details have been provided as to who the person might be.
Those arrested and released were persons from the area; among them a father and two sons.
Singh was cremated on Friday and according to relatives they are still in shock over the incident and are yet to get an update from the police.
Police had said in a statement on Sunday that they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the man, whose body was found around 8.30 am on his bed with his hands and feet bound.
The home of the victim, who lived alone, was ransacked. No other details were provided.
When he was discovered by his grandson, Singh was lying on his stomach, with his hands and feet tied behind his back and a piece of cloth tied tightly around his mouth. A post-mortem examination on Friday revealed that he died as a result of manual strangulation.
