Priyanna Ramdhani bagged two singles titles when the Annual Woodpecker Junior Christmas Singles Tournament concluded at the Queens College Badminton Courts on Friday. Ramdhani won the girls under-13 and under-15 singles titles. Having earlier defeated Ambika Ramraj in the under-13 category Ramdhani repeated the feat on Friday in the under-15 singles final where she won 21-8, 21-12.
Third was Varsha Boodram who defeated Nadine Jairam 21-17, 21-13.
Ramdhani’s brother was preventedfrom making it a double double for the family when he was stopped by Nicholas Ali in the under-19 final after he had won the boys under-15 final. The under-13 boys
singles was won by Jonathan Mangra with Ajave Singh and Omari Joseph second and third respectively. Narayan Ramdhani defeated Cecil Abrams in the final of the under-15 category with Ajave Singh occupying third place. Ali carted off the boys under-19 final from Ramdhani by winning 21-15, 21-16. In the third placed play off Avinash Oudit defeated Jonathan Hohenkirk 21-17, 18-21, 24-22. Angelica Holder won the girls Under-19 category from Tricia Ramjit while in the Under-15 boys singles third place playoff Ajave Singh defeated Josh Oudit 21-19, 18-21, 21-10.
