A Pigeon Island man was run over and killed in the wee hours of Christmas morning on the Public Road at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
According to a police press release, Naresh Khemraj, 21, of Pigeon Island, ECD was attempting to cross the road, when motor car PKK 9011, proceeding at a fast rate of speed, struck him down. Khemraj was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Police said the driver of the motor vehicle was found to be over the legal limit in terms of alcohol consumption when tested with the breathalyzer and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
