The international team of the Organization of American States Electoral Observation Mission (OAS/EOM) to the Jamaica elections received their training today in preparation for deployment throughout the country in view of the December 29, 2011, general elections, a statement from the organization said today.
The 25 OAS election observers from 16 countries will begin to be deployed tomorrow and will be present throughout Jamaica in the period leading to polling day. The observers will be present across Jamaica on the day of voting from the opening of the polls until the last ballot is cast.
The OAS statement said that the OAS/EOM Jamaica is represented by observers from the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Mexico, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States, and Venezuela.
